A story moment, featuring a cranky of Ruth Krauss’s The Carrot Seed, keep the interest of a gathering of SPROUTS and parents at Saturday’s Market. A very talented Kelly Quinn designed the cranky and told the story in English after volunteer Yady King translated the classic into Spanish.
The story moment complemented the work kids did all morning, searching to find the Spanish words for foods, colors, and people around the Market. Miami senior, Ally, ably assisted with translation and entertainment of a great group of young ones.

Geri Sue and Rick Sandor, long time Friends of the Market, found a new level of cultivating a fine community this past Saturday. The Sandors, after hearing of the goals and focus of the SPROUTS program, decided to sponsor a membership.
That membership has found its way to Matthew, who enjoyed his trip to the Market yesterday and was thrilled at the SPROUT t-shirt, market bag, coloring book and GreenBacks given as part of the membership to SPROUTS.
“For those without children or grandchildren of their own,” says Paula Green, a SPROUT organizer, “sponsoring a membership is a tremendous way to support our program. I see the generosity of the Oxford Community and the overriding sense of belonging here continue to grow each and every time we have a SPROUT event.”
For more information on SPROUTS, see https://oxfordfarmersmarket.com/sprouts. See Larry Slocum at the Market Manager’s tent or email Info@OxfordFarmersMarket.com for sponsorship opportunities. Its an investment that is guaranteed to grow!
Chris & Sarah Distel became our newest Friends of the Market because they believe in local, organic food for themselves and their children. As a friend of the market they are supporting what they believe.
You are never too young to shop at the market. That is why we created the SPROUTS program.
You’re never to small for the Oxford Farmer’s Market!
