Salutations Local Food Lovers,
Over 40 children got into the Olympic spirit Saturday at the Market, searching the market for foods the color of the Olympic Rings. Foods like chard, red peppers, summer squash, blackberries, and blueberry jam were discovered for the activities.
The Sprout House was decorated in pictograms designed for the Beijing Olympics and the young enjoyed the always favorite coloring table. Olympic-sized fun was had by all!
A story moment, featuring a cranky of Ruth Krauss's The Carrot Seed, keep the interest of a gathering of SPROUTS and parents at Saturday's Market. A very talented Kelly Quinn designed the cranky and told the story in English after volunteer Yady King translated the classic into Spanish.
The story moment complemented the work kids did all morning, searching to find the Spanish words for foods, colors, and people around the Market. Miami senior, Ally, ably assisted with translation and entertainment of a great group of young ones.
