Oxford Plant a Row for the Hungry Campaign

Plant A Row for the Hungry is a national campaign, organized by the Garden Writers Association, whose goal is to encourage gardeners to plant an extra row of food in their gardens and donate the food from this extra row to a local food pantry or kitchen. Since the launch of PAR in 1995, over 8 million pounds of fresh produce have been donated to organizations serving the hungry in the United States and Canada. Annual donations of produce now exceed 1 million pounds.

The goal of the Oxford Plant A Row for the Hungry Campaign is the same as the national PAR campaign. Collection bins for fresh produce donations to the campaign, along with Free PAR Starter Kits, will be located at the OFMU Market Tent. Individuals who are not able to grow extra food in their gardens are encouraged to purchase fresh produce to donate to the campaign. Fresh produce collected at the Market will be taken to the Oxford Community Choice Pantry where it will be distributed to those in need.
